Punishment

Tuesday, 27 Feb 2007 00:47:59

Each one of your words came as a cold yet refreshing spring on my skin, rejuvenating and deliriously wonderful, even though they brought about only dim resignation: heads bowing, looks turned downwards, regrets hidden in shaking hands and nervous fingers.

I wish what you told me were true. I wish you really meant all of those words. I wish to see no more masks on your face.

And I wish I were able to provide you with the reasons and the strength you need to overcome that most consuming demon you’ve accommodated inside.

I had once seen stars in your eyes. Don’t let all of them die.

Obsessive song of the day: Lacuna Coil – Angel’s Punishment.

Charlatanries

Feeling betrayed.

Look at them, drowning right under your eyes. Look at them and lift no helping hand. Look at them and utter no prayer for their demise. Envision the circles of the abysses they’re drowning in, green muses’ lips kissed in Venetian glass reflections.

I bring you comfort, I bring you delight, I bring you oblivion. The choirs you hear are angels, lovers, avengers, redeemers, gods. We slash and we atone. Kneel and feel.

They dabble in life affairs.

Whereabouts? Unknown.

Less

Falling apart, piece by piece. Peeling like bits of once-vivid colours from a dusty painting. Degrading one inch at a time: the leaves, the eyes, the skin, the skies.

Standing up, slowly but surely. Gathering strength from long-gone memories of an aching soul. Restoring one inch at a time: the leaves, the eyes, the skin, the skies.

Over and over again.

There’s no redemption, no absolution, no soothing words and the looking glass shows no glimpses of any possible end to it. But the ragged porcelain-faced dolls enjoy it, in their twisted little ways.

Breathe.

There seems to be no better way to escape reality than to let yourself dragged into its grotesque whirlwinds.

Take a deep breath of fresh air, then dive in. At first, you will hold your breath, it’s a mere necessity. Next thing you know is that you don’t even need to breathe as much as you believed you did. It fascinates you, there are so many things you can do, so much to see, so much to learn…

Play along, they don’t even notice. Why would they, after all? They’re too busy to even care. Watch them. Silently nod in agreement and politely smile when you’re told stories that make you feel dizzy or sick.

So close, no matter how far… So far, no matter how close.

One thing, though. Don’t forget how to breathe.

Obsessive song of the day: Nebelhexe – Totems.
