Connex -> Vodafone
Thursday, 27 Apr 2006 21:31:38Ro Connex officially turns to Vodafone as of today.
Oh well.
Also, from the 28th of April (that is, tomorrow) the Web2SMS service provided by MyX.net will stop functioning. They say it will be replaced by Mail2SMS, although I don’t see many “fans” for that service, especially because it works only with Microsoft Outlook Express and it doesn’t provide any free SMS.
Too bad, I thought the service was really useful, even when the 3 free SMS limit was excedeed. Why? It’s simple – because I write much faster on my keyboard and it was a lot more convenient for me to send messages from there (when possible, of course) instead of from my phone.
In any case, I’ll probably go change my SIM card sometime soon, too. And maybe even ask an operator about that GPRS service which doesn’t require any monthly fee (yes, I know it’s more expensive) cuz I don’t seem to be able to get the hang of that set-up procedure they provide and the config options sent by them don’t seem to work either.
And since they bothered to announce me that they’ve changed the design and blah blah in their official shop in here, I may as well go pay a visit and see what the hell was so special about it (aside from turning the green to red, probably).

Since I was recently writing about this campaign, I thought it also deserves a few words in here.
And well, I couldn’t express my exact opinion there either.
So, the idea is one I personally find quite appealing (I went as much as go through all the information provided about Google’s AdSense service), since I fancy Firefox very much. And I do find the initiative a very good one.
What I don’t agree with is the fact that, for the last of the three “aggressiveness” options, people who use Internet Explorer are basically blocked out from visiting your site.
Well, maybe some afford such a move and offer content interesting enough to push their regulars so far, but I still think that many who’ll use such an options will lose a considerable amount of [potential] visitors as well.
But then again, maybe there are indeed people for whom “forcefeeding” works just fine. Or stupid enough to persist in doing what they were trying to do and go on with the instructions they are offered.

Melting Wax
Wednesday, 26 Apr 2006 06:16:14Melting wax is fascinating.
Extra bonus if it comes from perfumed candles (which I’ve always liked, btw).
And well, hopefully I won’t set my house on fire.

Trust Issues
Monday, 24 Apr 2006 17:17:27I abused the tomcat’s trust and locked him out on the balcony again.
And I feel awful.
Oh well.
Hmmm, is there a phpBB mod which can actually limit an administrator’s access to other administrators’ profiles &such? Yes, J* issues again.

Friends Forever
Sunday, 23 Apr 2006 23:43:16I have a big black tomcat on my balcony. And he’s “crying” cuz he wants to get in.
But he won’t.
Normally I would never do this to a cat or any other pet, for that matter. Unless I really had to. So, logically, I had to. Why? Because he’s chasing my kitties. He fell inlove with my Puff and now he won’t let her go anywhere without him following. And the little thing is actually frightened. She can’t eat or drink or just sleep somewhere, cuz he’s all over her. Yes, literally. And it’s annoying. I’d let them mate if it was okay, but she’s way too young, she’s not even one year old yet. Good thing Katze has no such problems – she slapped the guy once and he learned to keep away.
Aside from this, he’s also rather violent. I was trying to give him some food once and I got some “pretty” scratches on my hand. Big ones. And they hurt. So patting or any other such thing is out of the question. Oh well.
In any case, on Tuesday he’ll be off to his owners anyway so everything will get back to normal. Hopefully.
Now, back to other things. I went out quite a lot these days. Initially I wanted to go to Predeal, but the weather didn’t seem to be on my side so I canceled the trip. Instead, I decided to go out with some friends who came back here for the holidays. And I had … tons of fun.
In such moments I realise how much I miss those who’ve left to Bucharest and other more or less distant places.
The only bad thing which happened was today – as I went out with my neighbour, a girl I’ve known and got along with since ever – when we went to the playground which we used to visit very often. We go there for the swings. There are few other activities which we both enjoy so much. I guess it’s the feeling of freedom that I have with the wind caressing my cheeks and my hair like no human could ever do… And, above all, I recall things – memories I dwell upon.
But it didn’t last too long: some guards came and told us that only kids up to 14 are allowed there. I felt like the heavy clouds had instantly fallen upon me and I don’t understand why they’re doing this. We were just swinging there, no damage or anything, and we weren’t even using the plastic swings which had been recently built for kids, but the old iron ones which we used to have years ago. But no, they didn’t care, we’re over 14, so we have to go away. I still fail to understand why and it’s the first time this happened (to my knowledge, only those plastic swings are kids-only).
Dunno, I love that place and I probably won’t take this too easy. But, if it’s not possible there, I just want another playground where no frelling guard or anyone else, for that matter, would bug me.
And people have been planting trees in the little park (which used to be another playground, looong ago) we have in front of our block of flats. Lovely, we were actually picturing how wonderful the whole place will look in 5 or so years.
And tomorrow I’ve got to start working again. Oh, the horror.
P.S. The Danube is really big.
