I’m blue da ba dee da ba di…
Saturday, 28 Jan 2006 13:00:50
You’re blue – the most soothing shade of the spectrum. The color of a clear summer sky or a deep, reflective ocean, blue has traditionally symbolized trust, solitude, and loyalty. Most likely a thoughtful person who values spending some time on your own, you’d rather connect deeply with a few people than have a bunch of slight acquaintances. Luckily, making close friends isn’t that hard, since people are naturally attracted to you – they’re soothed by your calming presence. Cool and collected, you rarely overreact. Instead, you think things through before coming to a decision. That level-headed, thoughtful approach to life is patently blue – and patently you!

Hate O’Clock
Wednesday, 25 Jan 2006 01:11:19I hate it when people talk about death just as if they were talking about the way actors played in the movie they saw on TV the previous night.
I hate it when people accusingly point at somebody in order to emphasise his flaws just because he dares to defy them and think otherwise.
Smile now, icy star. And may they grin above your grave.

The Chronicles Of Spellborn
Sunday, 15 Jan 2006 22:11:05On the 12th of January I received a mail in which I was announced that I had been accepted into the Closed Beta of The Chronicles of Spellborn MMORPG.
This means that I’m one of the ~650 people (at the moment) who got a beta key that allowed me to download the game client and access to the private beta community.
For those interested, anybody with a decent computer (and a video card which supports Pixel Shader 2.0) can complete a form and they may be selected for the beta testing, but bear in mind that the producers are actually interested in the way the game works on their specific system or in any feedback possible. So it’s not just play and fool around, it’s play and do something useful. And no, there’s no payment to it. The only advantage of the sort is that you get to see the game before others and before it’s officially released.
Too bad that, since all the beta testers must agree to a specific NDA (non-disclosure agreement) when they join, they must not provide details or screenshots of the game in its current condition to non beta testers. So I can’t post any (more or less) pretty screenshots from the game as it currently is (shr00mz!). Oh well, I guess there are plenty of images to be seen on their site.
Anyway, go go beta signup if you really want to.

Smile
05:45:19I went shopping on Friday. Someone who’d know me better would also know that there must have been a special occasion for me to do that, as I tend to dislike and avoid it otherwise.
Well, I went to look for a gift for my mom’s birthday. As usually, buying a gift for her is the toughest trial of the year – you know, it’s that feeling that nothing is good enough for our mothers (and which is, actually, quite true). As such things require extra brainstorming, I had previously started working on a plan and I came up with a thorough list with shops I should check out and things I should consider buying.
Thus, quickly writing a CD with the latest favourite tracks and getting a bag to hide all the evidence, off I went. On the road I also realised how great it feels to walk out in the cold, with music resounding in my ears, cables hanging out from the headphones and the wind messing up my hair.
So, as it always happens when you have planned everything, things never go as planned.
I’ve waited a couple of minutes to take a bus and start my shopping spree from the farthest point and then walk home on a route which would have included the major places I wanted to see. But, on the spur of the moment, I decided that I’ll walk all the way and enjoy the feeling mentioned above a little more, despite the really cold weather. Until I got to the first library. And saw this lovely book with famous quotes and pictures about and with cats (a Romanian translation of Helen Exley’s “Glorious Cats”). And I fell in love with it the first instant I saw it. And I bought it, along with packing accessories. The purrfect gift!
I was rather cold by then and, because I hate having my nose red as if I were a drunken individual staggering out of a lousy bar, I chose a bus for my trip back home. And that was about it, I must be some sort of a natural-born genius when it comes to simplifying things.
Anyway, the book is really nice and suitable for a gift. The price may be a bit too high, but I’d say it’s actually worth it. The selection of quotes and pictures is a remarkable one.
Which reminds me, if you’re ever in need or simply want to read some cute things about cats, pay a visit to CatQuotes.com, I’ve had a great time reading those things there.
P.S. Oh, since everyone was so excited about that Friday, 13th – I actually had a great day, too.

Leather and Gold
Friday, 13 Jan 2006 04:05:36I’ve loved animals ever since I know myself and horses have always been an all-time favourite.
Today, while looking for an image to get a bit of help with drawing a prancing horse, I saw a photo of a Palomino horse. Well now, besides the adorable Shire breed, I’ve always been a fan of those beautiful Palomino colours, but – somehow – I had never actually related the images to the name. To be honest now, I knew more of AMD’s Palomino rather than the colour characteristics of those horses.
Needless to say, I went to “savage” Google and look at all the available images with the golden breed. Jumping from one page to another, I decided to read more about each horse breed for my general knowledge. So I went on to Wikipedia. To my surprise, the specific breed entries there didn’t always have images associated to them and simple text wasn’t enough to get a good picture of the information I read. So back to Google again – this time looking for more information on horse breeds with relevant photos.
I found the most pleasing results at Breeds of Livestock – Horse Breeds, Horse Breeds of the World and World of Horses – Horse and Pony Breeds.
P.S. The magnificent image above is taken from here, but I didn’t manage to find anything else about it.
